I guess my point is that Apple has a hard sell with the iPad, and they really need to figure out what market they're going after with that device. I think they can do it, though. Perhaps they need to go after the older (baby boomer?), computer-phobic demographic that wants to be able to use e-mail, etc. I read a good article about that, titled, "The iPad is for old people."

How about the name, "iTab"? Best of both worlds, hopefully.

Plus a couple of thoughts:

1) No multitasking - I experience this problem ALL the time with my iPhone. It's not so much that I want to do two things at once, literally. The problem is that I want to be able to switch between two things/apps seamlessly and instantly without losing my state, and my iPhone doesn't have that capability. Also, I would love to have things running in the background while I'm doing something else, but I don't have that capability (e.g. Google Talk + anything else).

I can't even browse multiple tabs in Safari without it sometimes having to reload the page I was just on when I go back to it (that's probably more a problem with limited RAM on my iPhone 3G. I don't understand why they refuse to cache any webpages in Flash memory, though).

2) No flash means that a lot of websites don't work on the iPhone/iPad, and often times that just means you're stuck with no recourse. That's a big deal whenever you stumble upon one of those webpages, and it also means that a lot of Flash games/MMO's can't run on the iPad. And the regular YouTube webpage is still built with Flash - HTML5 isn't ready yet.

Mark my words: Apple is about to start to take "Apple TV" seriously, and that will be a big deal--even if the product that it plays on isn't.

@nadine i think almost everyone judges this product for that name, agreed! however, i do believe we quickly move beyond that and the iPad becomes so branded and unique that it doesn't really matter for more than an hour. this product will live far beyond the jokes about women's products.

however, if the product was poorly designed, way too expensive, and looked like something you would buy at Shopper's, then the joke would probably last a bit longer.

@mui yep, i have one that i got when i was on LooP. it's very comfortable.

I must confess, I judged the iPad for its awkward name. Are there no women on Apple's marketing team? :)
