Someone has been on my mind a lot lately (more often than I even realize!) and it has slowly been leaking into this space.  I’ve been wanting to tell people for a couple days now.  It’s official and I’m proud about it!  I’m now formally in a relationship with a wonderful girl named France Pion.  I’ve been getting to know her over the course of the last couple months, and I can’t express the joy that’s on my heart that this is real life.  To be honest I’ve never thought I would be the one telling people that…. I have a girlfriend.  Or that I’m someone’s boyfriend.  Silas, you have come a long way from that shy young guy at the back of the class.

The weirdest thing is Facebook.  Why is that so enigmatic?  Before we were dating I held the opinion that the Relationship Status box was pretty lame.  You tell someone you’re single or you’re in a relationship and all of a sudden no one has to inquire about whether you’re “taken”.  And too many people play around with that status and get “married” to a housemate or post that they’re “engaged” to no one.  I’ve never trusted the “Relationship Status” box.  And now because it’s happening to me, I have to admit, all I want to do is let people know about the news; I’m so excited!  It’s not a secret and I want for our relationship to be open to others to be aware of.  I think that’s healthy.

Anyways, my privacy and notification settings have been scaled back so far that I don’t even know if people will notice on Facebook unless they are looking.  So, faithful blog readers, you’ve been rewarded for your faithfulness and interest in my life.  In the future, perhaps I’ll let you know more about who France is and why I’m so attracted to her.  Perhaps.
