Ack, Allan’s gone! Mark’s gone! Chem is still here, haunting me! 4.5 hours until chemistry…. must work hard because there’s no tomorrow, ….. why can’t I concentrate? I sure wish I could be as concerned about my last exam as Kristen was…. ready to study right up to the final.

Gah Lord please help me, I’m going crazy.

Bah, now I can count us without even trying. Allan, Graeme, and me.

Zach and Miranda left this morning…. Miranda gave me a picture frame from her “famous” art class video. It fits perfectly around my computer monitor. She left early (early as in 8AM). Zach left around 10:30AM as I was in the shower…… I yelled a final goodbye out the door :)

Seriously, how do they expect us to study for an exam on Monday now? Arg.

People who left today: Bob from my alcove, Alex and Sean from downstairs, Pat the Aggie, and Kristen. I’ll miss them all…

I studied till 3:30am in the 4th floor lounge with Kristen last night. I know I could have left earlier, but I really didn’t want to leave her there to study by herself all night. If I wasn’t there, she pretty well could have studied straight through until her exam at 8:30… which would have been quite ugly — I knew that an all-nighter was not a good idea.

This morning I woke up to my alarm set at around 8am, but I still fell back asleep. I knew I didn’t need to wake up too early.. Allan woke me up around 10:45 or so… he told me that Bob was getting ready to leave. After an hour or so of moving stuff to his Jeep Cherokee (red), Bob drove off, giving a quick farewell mostly to Graeme, one of his roommates. It’s a little awkward for guys to say bye…. so they just shook hands and joked around a bit.

Graeme’s room is now almost empty. Grant and Bob have both left and it’s just weird.

Kristen did really well on the exam! I’ve never seen anyone so confident after an exam! Good thing she went over all that material late last night. When Kristen finished her exam, we met up to go to the Distance Ed office to get our course materials… she’s taking 2 courses during the summer in addition to working and relaxing. We were waiting all week for a good time for both of us to go together; it ended up being on her last day. It didn’t take long so we grabbed something to eat at the UC afterwards. My exam was approaching at 2:30 and I didn’t have a care in the world…

Bio was….. OK. There were 55 multiple choice, 4 mandatory short answer sections, and 1 of 2 short answer pages. Although the MC was kind of easy, the short answer was brutal. There were terms there that I hadn’t seen ever before, or couldn’t remember from the beginning of the semester. But I’m just glad that it’s finished….

4 Exams finished, now just Chem on Monday.

I checked out Awesome House after the exam… Ben picked up Andrew, Trevor, and me. Turns out when we arrived at the place there was no one home… Turnbull had a key, so us 8 guys ventured throughout the house, finding it in a pretty bad condition. I have to admit, it is very very hard to want to live in a place that has been treated really badly by the current tenants. Some girl drove up, but she was totally hungover from drinking till 5AM because she was finished exams. She told us a bit about the house, but she wasn’t of great help… most of the rooms were locked up, the tub faucet doesn’t shut off, the place just quite decrepid (sp?).

Ben dropped me back off at Mountain Hall in time to see Kristen’s family just finish stuffing their rental van full of her stuff… That minivan was totally stuffed full…. like full full, haha. I guess she was right she did have a ton of stuff in her room. And the issue that needed to be dealt with was what to do with her mini fridge! Guess where the fridge is now!? She loaned it to me for the summer. :)

So we said our goodbyes - my was that long and drawn out… the way it needed to be. I’m gonna miss her… Kristen is undoubtedly one of the best friends I’ve made here at Guelph.

Also said well to Pat the Aggie…. or Farmer Pat. I hung out with him and Kristen a lot in the past while, we three studied together much and had lots of fun. He has a really nice white Chevy Silverado truck! He threw all his stuff in two big boxes in the back box, tossed his old Packard Bell in the passenger seat, and took off after a strong handshake.

Man, this is a long post…. for a long day. Jeremy, Mark, Graeme, Allan, and I went to Wimpy’s for a final dinner before Mark and Allan take off tomorrow.

Oh yeah… I moved my bed off the shelves back onto the ground now… and the shelves back up onto the brackets. Not a big deal, but a big change.

I’m realizing that sure, 1st year is ending, but this is not the end.

So now Eric has left. He totally cleared out his room and left around 5:00…. but the thing is I wasn’t there to say bye to him!! I was probably studying in the 4th floor lounge or playing ball with Kristen and Pat.

This morning, Eric and I both had 8:30am exams. We decided late last night to wake each other up - accountability so that we wouldn’t sleep through the exams. I knocked and knocked on his door, but he was sound asleep - luckily Eric left his door unlocked and walked in a shook him awake. That was good… only 7:45. But after he went to the bathroom, I heard the slow click of his door…. the kind like you know he was inside, not leaving.

Cut to 8:15. I was almost totally sure he was inside, and I just knocked and knocked, but no one answered. I didn’t try calling, because earlier I had already tried but there was no ring from his room! On top of that, I couldn’t find my student ID/meal card. I still don’t know where it is. I had to leave for my exam eventually though.

It ends up that Eric woke up at 8:37 and realized his exam had begun and he ran off to the room frantically. What a time to sleep soundly - apparently he constantly had trouble sleeping here in res; Eric slept most soundly the last day he was here…. hehe.

Now I’m done Geography. Man, it was hard. There was so much specific stuff in there. At least it’s over now. Now to concentrate on Biology (Saturday). I have to have to do well to pull my average up somehow. My co-op could - does - depend on it.

People are leaving… and I’m beginning to feel sad. Pat’s roommate Dan left, and it was almost an emotional affair to see the three (third roommate Joe) taking pictures, saying “final” good-byes. I’m really wondering how I will study for my final Chem exam (Monday) after Kristen, Pat, Mark, Allan, Bob, and everyone else leave.

Why, oh why, do good things need to end?

So, at this point I’m totally out of it, no longer able to sit down for more than 30 minutes, don’t want to study or do anything but play the guitar or sleep. Or read Lord of the Rings or go chat with Kristen. Or investigate what’s new in the road bike world, or play the piano…. man I have a lot of stuff I can do BUT study. However I know that I need to study to do well and it’s truly hard to study now. I’ve studied so much for my first 2 exams that I simply can’t pull myself to study for Geography, Bio, or Chem. I’m gonna be so screwed for the Chem exam if this keeps up.

The first person on my floor to leave was Grant. He’s in HAFA (Hotel and food admin) and those Hafa’s get it good, they get to leave early. It feels like more people have left already however, because Allan went home only to come back for Bio on Saturday, Eric returns to Hamilton between all his exams, and Graeme is constantly isolating himself in the library, actually studying hard for the exams. He’s hardcore man….

What will I do with myself? I need a real smacking from God, or someone…. Someone to tell me “OK we’re studying from NOW till NOW and you can’t do nothing about it” then drag me out of my room to somewhere I can work hard, not fall asleep, and actually learn what I’m doing.
