Ruminations
Friday, October 31st, 2003Shaun demonstrated to us at Campus Crusade a mental image. He told us to close our eyes, and visualize the most star-filled sky out there that we’ve ever seen. Then, to hold a dime at arm’s-length to find a totally black spot the size of that dime (or other coin depending on your financial situation). Then, to imagine what we would see if we aimed the Hubble Space Telescope at that specific area.
Open your eyes.
A picture. Of what astronomists found when they did something similar to this. And they found that in that “black” space, were at least 1500 galaxies in “various stages of evolution”. How amazing.

How worthy God is of our worship. He is the the only One worthy of our worship.
So what is missions? Missions is the re-orienting of people to give their focuses to the ONLY ONE who is worthy of worship! God wants everyone’s attention and worship (willing worship). Until everyone knows that God would love and cherish the worship that they could give him, missions is still an objective!
Now, I noticed that Shaun said “the God of the Bible”. Why did he say that? It’s because he believes (as do I) that the God of the Qu’ran, the God of the Book of Mormon, the God of the other books simply does not have any resemblance to the God of the Bible. Nowhere in any other text is God compassionate, humble, merciful, gracious, personal, and forgiving (all of these traits, not just one of ‘em). Nowhere in any other text does God come down to man in the form of a man to save man (or humanity, whichever sounds better).
Because I believe that the God of the Bible did this, I am eternally in debt to him. So much so that he deserves my life entirely. Well, he has allowed me the control of my own life, but to give it back to him to control would be the only thing closest to “adequate”. Although not at all adequate, he says that’s all he asks for! How amazing.
